Artist Statement

Sudrak Khongpuang is Thai artist and started her career as a professional painter in 2003. A prolific practitioner of the Naïve Surrealism movement, Sudrak is renown for the use of vibrant colors to document the Thai countryside and the old rural way of life. Her oil color on canvas Modern Landscape paintings, inspired by her carefree childhood years spent with her grandparents upcountry, are a clear testament to her unique style.

A self-taught painter, Sudrak spent the first half of her professional career perfecting her techniques and discovering her distinctive style. From that moment on, her works have made their ways to public viewing – both as a part of group exhibitions and independently. Amongst her many solo showcases, the most notable are exhibitions held at South Bay Contemporary/The Loft Art Studio & Gallery in San Pedro, California USA, Artemis Art Gallery, KL, Malaysia, the National Gallery of Thailand, the Bangkok Art & Culture Centre, and the Jamjuree Art Gallery of the Chulalongkorn University, Thailand to name just a few. Her paintings are celebrated by both domestic and foreign art collectors.
